Georgia Soldiers Memorial Quilt


Augusta, Ga. – A quilt honoring Georgia soldiers who were killed in action from October 2001 through April 2011 will be on display in the lobby of the Reese Library at Augusta State University.

The Georgia Soldiers Memorial Quilt, created by Yadira Payne, government information librarian in ASU’s Reese Library, and ASU student Tristan Nall, consists of 190, 4-inch x 6-inch American flags pinned together to represent each individual life lost.
“They are individual but united,” says Payne about the quilt’s composition. “The quilt will be on display from May 3 until July 29 in order to honor our soldiers on Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Flag Day, and Independence Day,” she says. Read the full story

Rock the Vote


Which Constitutional amendment gives 18-year olds the right to vote? Students will have the opportunity at several events this week at Augusta State University to exercise that right and to learn more about the Constitution. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Sept. 16, 17, and 18, ASU students will Rock the Vote in voter registration drives in the Jaguar Student Activities Center—in time to meet the October deadline for registering to vote in the November presidential elections.
