Augusta, Ga. – Jeffrey Heck, associate professor of library science, has been named the new associate director of the Reese Library at Augusta State University, effective Aug. 1.

Augusta, Ga. – Memorial Day honors the men and women in the armed forces. In recognition of their bravery, the Reese Library at Augusta State University will have a Memorial Day display from May 3-30.
On display will be the Table Set for One, a symbol that represents soldiers currently serving our country away from home, and Rose Petals, a memorial to veterans who are no longer with us. A glass bowl will be located near the display for guests to place a military insignia honoring a member of the military. Read the full story

Which Constitutional amendment gives 18-year olds the right to vote? Students will have the opportunity at several events this week at Augusta State University to exercise that right and to learn more about the Constitution. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Sept. 16, 17, and 18, ASU students will Rock the Vote in voter registration drives in the Jaguar Student Activities Center—in time to meet the October deadline for registering to vote in the November presidential elections. The Reese Library at Augusta State University will be extending its hours of operation during fall semester for its Special Collections unit. The new hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The new operating schedule will be in effect through Dec. 12, with the exception of the Thanksgiving weekend. Augusta State University’s Reese Library will explore graphic novels and Jewish literature in a five-part discussion series entitled Jewish Literature – Identity and Imagination.
The first discussion will be A Contract with God by Will Eisner on Monday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in Reese Library. A Contract with God is a graphic novel that consists of four short semi-autobiographical stories about the author’s childhood experiences while living in the Bronx. Mr. Eisner, the son of Jewish immigrants, has also been credited with bringing adult-oriented novel-length comics to a wider audience. Read the full story
