Mr. Kellman will present his epic poem, Limestone, on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 2:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Reese Library.

Limestone constructs a vision of Barbados that encompasses suffering and achievement, heroic struggle and the setbacks born of self-interest and timorous compromise. It is a vast treasure house of images, sounds, and rhythms that move, entertain, and absorb the reader in its world. In addition to the epic poem is an accompanying Island/Folk World music style soundtrack.

Mr. Kellman is the author of The Coral Rooms, The Houses of Alphonso, The Long Gap, Watercourse, and Wings of a Stranger. He is the editor of Crossing Water, an anthology of English-language Caribbean poetry. He is also the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship. Mr. Kellman received his bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies and master of fine arts degree from Louisiana State University. He joined the ASU faculty in 1991.

For more information about this free event and other upcoming authors in the series, call Augusta State’s Reese Library at 706-737-1745.
