Augusta, Ga.- Each year Augusta State observes Black History Month in February by hosting a month-long series of events to honor the African- Americans who have contributed to America’s history and culture.
Highlighting the month’s activities is a program, Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. in 170 University Hall, by Dr. Mallory Millender, former Paine College professor, on America’s Debt to Haiti. Dr. Millender has written several articles including Haiti: African-American Contact to 1960, which was published in the Journal of Caribbean Studies in 2005. He is a former first vice president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
