An Emergency Notification System is now in place to notify faculty, staff, and students of emergency situations. “Only emergency notices regarding severe threats to campus or public safety that call for immediate action will be issued,” says Jasper Cooke, director of the Department of Public Safety. Jaguar Alert will not be used for nonemergency notifications such as lane closures, crime updates, inclement weather closings, or situations that have been contained where a threat does not exist. Augusta State University will now be among more than 150 universities to implement Connect-ED, a service that uses the internet and telephone to notify users of emergency situations.
”Connect-ED will be replacing the current emergency notification system. With the new system, we will be able to send email, phone, and text messages simultaneously. The old system only allowed us to send out a text message,” says Jasper Cooke, director of Public Safety. Read the full story
