President’s Message

Dear Members of the Augusta State Family:

Augusta State University is committed to the advancement of  knowledge and the enrichment of its community.

That’s how our mission statement begins—and has begun ever since 1991.

Our strategic plan, with its faculty approval in January of 2011, gives new support and direction to that statement.  Moreover, at a time when states and institutions are facing difficult budget challengers, progress on the four goals in our plan promises not only greater advancement of knowledge and enrichment of our community but also increased resources and fiscal stability.

I’m pleased that the plan emerged from a diverse group of faculty and staff members, students, alumni, and community supporters—and from the efforts of Dr. Samuel Sullivan to ensure a strategic planning process at this university that was “open to the voices of all its members.”

That, too, is a long-standing phrase in our mission statement.

I’m greatly appreciative of all who worked to develop the plan—and of all who will work to achieve it.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. William A. Bloodworth
