The Jaguars men’s basketball team will host Aiken Tech in an exhibition game on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m., in Christenberry Field House. Last week in an exhibition game, the Jags defeated Division I Presbyterian College 70-60 in front of a crowd of 1,287 at Templeton Center on the campus of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. Last season, the men’s team made it to the Elite 8, finishing second in the nation in Division II.

As enrollment continues to grow and the master plan for the university includes a new academic building on Wrightsboro Road, the Dean of Students is seeking input from students regarding a proposed shuttle service. The service would run continuously during class times, making stops at the Christenberry Field House, University Village, Allgood Hall, and University Hall. The shuttle service would not only benefit students who may not have vehicles but would help alleviate parking issues on the main campus. Representing the state of Georgia at the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship Scholarship program in July will be Augusta State University student Andre Goodman, a political science major.
Mr. Goodman, president of ASU’s Student Government Association (SGA), will receive the scholarship to the annual Student Congress in Lexington, Ky. The scholarship will cover transportation, housing, food, course materials, and activities during the week-long program. Read the full story

The National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi presented Augusta State University student Jason Edward Sumerau with the Award of Excellence for the 2008-2009 academic year on April 15. The Award of Excellence will enable the North Augusta native to pursue master’s and doctorate degrees in sociology at Florida State University. He is the son of Edward and Patricia Sumerau.
