While the recent survey generated some passionate responses, the overall consensus was neither overwhelming for or against the closing. However, due to the current budget climate, this operation is not economically feasible to sustain. The primary budget savings will be achieved by cancelling the contract for leased copy production equipment ($95,000). No ASU employees will lose their jobs as a result of the closing. Copy Center operations have been maintained by temporary help for the past five months.

The University is establishing an agreement with the GHSU (MCG) Copy Center to handle our campus copy needs. Copy prices will remain essentially the same, and in some cases, will be cheaper. GHSU will offer pick-up and delivery from our campus and offer a method for submitting copy jobs electronically. Security of tests will be handled using sealed envelopes and shrink wrapping to ensure accountability. Customers also will have the option of visiting the GHSU Copy Center should they choose.

Once the final details of the transition are completed, additional information will be distributed. It should be noted that this project was in discussion before the announcement by the BOR to study the consolidation of campuses and this new process is in no way related to that initiative.

We encourage you to continue to use the ASU Copy Center through Jan. 31, 2012.

Search committee for dean of the College of Education formed

The search for a permanent replacement for the dean of the College of Education is beginning with the expectation of having someone in place on July 1, 2012.
