Endowment established for President Bloodworth
In honor and recognition of his service to Augusta State University, the ASU Foundation has established the William A. Bloodworth, Jr., Scholarship Endowment Fund.
“In order to honor Dr. Bloodworth’s outstanding leadership, the ASU Foundation envisioned an endowment to commemorate and recognize the role that he has played in advancing ASU. This is a wonderful tribute to him and his vision for the university. All of us—faculty, staff, alumni, students, Foundation, and friends—have an opportunity to show our appreciation for all that President Bloodworth has accomplished,” said Helen Hendee, vice president for development and alumni relations.
These accomplishments include new construction and renovations that have enhanced the learning environment for ASU students, a new science building, two classroom replacement buildings (Allgood and University Halls), a new student activities center, new golf practice facilities and golf house, a golf pavilion, an amphitheatre, a museum, History Walk, a new art gallery and studios, and other renovations producing state-of-the-art facilities for student study, research, and activities while transforming the appearance of campus.
“What better way to honor his nearly 19 years of service and his many contributions to the institution than by establishing an endowment to provide scholarships to deserving students,” said Hendee.
The endowment will be announced during Bloodworth’s retirement celebration on Thursday, June 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cultural Center.
