Continuing Education renamed
The Division of Continuing Education has been renamed the Division of Professional and Community Education (DPCE), effective immediately.
“The new name better reflects the types of courses offered and what the courses are meant to accomplish,” said Peter Basciano, associate vice president for academic affairs.
With the upcoming consolidation, continuing education is being realigned. According to Denise Moore, assistant director of the DPCE, the new name best explains what the division offers. The division will continue to offer professional certificates, contract training, non-academic credit courses in languages, test preparation, music, personal enrichment, camps, and more.
“The term continuing education means different things in different parts of the United States. The new name helps define us. This is also a better way of putting our wide variety of programs under one umbrella,” Moore added.
