Forums planned to discuss ASU/GHSU consolidation
Open forums with Augusta State University President William A. Bloodworth, Jr., and Georgia Health Sciences University President Ricardo Azziz will be held on Wednesday, June 6, to answer questions about the consolidation of ASU and GHSU.
The forums will be held at noon in the ASU JSAC Ballroom and at 5:30 p.m. in the Natalie and Lansing B. Lee, Jr., Auditorium in the GHSU Auditoria Center.
Bookstore Closed
The ASU Bookstore will be closed June 4-8 to complete fiscal year-end inventory. It will re-open on Monday, June 11.
Pruitt named ASU Conservatory Jazz Band Director
Steve Pruitt has been named the director of the Augusta State University Conservatory Jazz Band. Pruitt is a well-known local jazz musician and educator. Currently the Stallings Island Middle School band director, Mr. Pruitt also performs with Savannah River Winds and Equinox Jazz Orchestra.
He is looking forward to recruiting students from the CSRA interested in furthering their jazz instruction and performance.
“We are excited about the future of the Conservatory Jazz Band and look forward to watching the growth of this popular program, said Sarah Tau, director of the ASU Music Conservatory Program.
The Conservatory Jazz Band is part of the ASU Music Conservatory program, under the direction of the Division of Professional and Community Education.
Annual Fire Alarm Testing
The following buildings will have the fire alarm systems tested by Carter Brothers and assisted by Physical Plant Electrical Shop:
Friday, June 8, the horns and strobe lights will activate for 15 minutes in the Radio Station at 8 a.m.; afterwards, the Central Utility Plant/Continuing Education Building system will be tested.
Saturday, June 9, starting at 8 a.m., the horns and strobe lights will activate for 90 minutes in Science Hall and afterwards in Washington Hall.
Sunday, June 10, the horn and strobe lights will activate for 90 minutes in the Student Center/Reese Library at 8 a.m. and afterwards in Galloway Hall.
