Maria Darley, study abroad, successfully completed the 2011 NAFSA Academy for International Education. The academy training program is designed to enhance the trainee’s ability to contribute to strengthening international education programs and issues in the field of international education.
Under the direction of Carol Hood, chemistry and physics, two ASU physics students, Maira Acosta and Murray Macnamara, traveled to the University of Tennessee to attend the 3rd Annual Southeast Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics. Acosta and Macnamara both won a telescope.
Robert Foster, music, presented Accentuate the Negative? On Teaching Biographical Details in Jazz History at the International Conference on Arts & Humanities in Honolulu, Hawaii. While there, Foster also had lessons with two shakuhachi masters.
Wendy Turner, history, anthropology, and philosophy, presented Increase in Mental Health cases among Landholders after the Black Death for the workshop on Disease, Disability and Medicine in Medieval Europe: Disability & Economy at the University of Nottingham with Oxford University.
