A nearly two-year effort in university planning came together this summer when four subcommittees, comprised of faculty, staff, administrators, and students, addressed each of the university’s goals to determine its objectives, strategies, and priorities. The new strategic plan, called ASU in Action for Excellence, will guide the university over the next five years.
The chair of each subcommittee made their reports at two meetings in July of the President’s Advisory Council. The meetings, led by Samuel Sullivan, vice president for Academic Affairs, allowed participating and other interested faculty, staff, and students the opportunities to offer input on plans and directions for the university.
“As a result of the PAC meetings, I believe our university will experience more breakthroughs in the near future,” says Alice McCann, groundskeeper in ASU’s Physical Plant, who served as a member of subcommittee 2.
The four goals are:
Strategic Goal 1: Enhance External Support that Leads to Faculty Growth and Development and Student Success.
Strategic Goal 2: Increase the percentage of graduates who major in high demand fields.
Strategic Goal 3: Enhance Student Matriculation and Academic Success.
Strategic Goal 4: Increase the percentage of students in upper-division and graduate level courses.
An expanded University Council is serving as the Strategic Planning Task Force, and they accepted additional input through an online survey posted on the Strategic Planning Task Force webpage.
Each subcommittee’s report also may be found online.
