“I was surprised, because I wasn’t expecting to be chosen,” is how Gabriel Few says he felt after being named Physical Plant’s Employee of the Second Quarter. A storekeeper, Few was selected for the award from more than 90 Physical Plant employees. The Augusta native has been a member of the ASU family for five years and says it is the university’s friendly environment that makes the work so enjoyable.
“It just feels good to know that my co-workers would choose me for this award,” he says.
Although Few has only worked at the university for a short period of time, Brenda Murray, Few’s supervisor, says his quality of work has proven exceptional. “Gabriel not only has a great personality, but he possesses a work ethic that makes him willing to help, no matter the task,” she says.
Before coming to ASU, Few worked as a housekeeper in various labs at the Medical College of Georgia. After making the decision to work for Augusta State, he served as one of the university’s custodians for two years before taking on his current position.
When he is not working, the T.W. Josey High School alum enjoys spending time with his daughters, Taylor, 2, and Asia, 1. He says he also finds relaxation in playing video games, going to the movies with friends and family, and grilling some of his “famous” barbecue ribs.
