New and returning students will find their first week at Augusta State University charged with excitement, fun, food, and games as they gear up for their fall semester. With Enjoy the Ride as this year’s theme, the annual Week of Welcome will kick off on Monday, Aug. 16, with the Jaguar Carnival from 10 a.m.-noon on the Sports Field outside Science Hall. Students will have the opportunity to take a ride on a Ferris wheel or loop-o-plane, win prizes at the game booths, and enjoy tasty snacks. The week will culminate with its annual day of service, which will be conducted at the Safe Homes of Augusta on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Aug. 17
Celebrity Bingo. Noon-2 p.m., JSAC Ballroom. Faculty and administrators will act as bingo callers in this game that includes a state-of-the-art bingo score board and prizes. Buffalo wings will be served.
Aug. 18.
Scavenger Hunt. Noon-2 p.m., JSAC Ballroom. In groups of ten, students will search for hidden treasures that have been planted throughout campus. The team that wins the competition will receive $1,000, which has been provided by the Augusta State University Foundation.
Aug. 19
Meet the National Championship Golf Team. Breezeway.
Human iTunes/Mocktails. Noon. JSAC Breezeway. Can you stump the Human iTunes? Students will play Name that Tune against nationally renowned recording artist John Taglieri. Student organizations will also be in the Breezeway creating non-alcoholic cocktails as they participate in the campus-wide competition of making Mocktails.
Guest speaker, the Honorable Judge J. Wade Padgett. 7 p.m., JSAC Ballroom. Judge Padgett will present information on the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
Aug. 20
Concert and Fireworks. 7 p.m., D. Douglas Barnard, Jr., Amphitheatre. Enjoy an evening under the stars as you listen to performances by some of our area’s most popular bands. This event is being co-sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and 95 Rock.
