Actively involved in her ministry, Laverne Felix, administrative assistant in the Office of Student Activities, sits on the board of trustees, sings in the choir, serves on the Pastor Support team, and is the youth choir advisor.
“My spiritual life is important to me. I enjoying serving in my ministry,” says Ms. Felix.
And she literally serves her ministry by assisting with the catering company, Affairs to be Remembered. Her church, Carey Hill Missionary Baptist Church, offers full service catering which does everything from food to floral to decorations. Ms. Felix recently assisted with a wedding reception.
“I actually love to cook when I can find time to do it. I like doing down-home country cooking,” she adds.
When not cooking or working in ministry, she is dedicated to her work in the Student Activities Office. Ms. Felix is in charge of managing the front desk, the hiring and termination of student workers for the JSAC, and signing up students for orientation.
After work hours, her time is spent shopping, hanging out with friends, and enjoying quiet time. Although she does not get to have as much quiet time as she would like, she tries get a little when her son is away.
