ADP scholars recognized

The year-old initiative provided a $600,000 grant to the three institutions to enhance education in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as STEM education. The ADP Educational Partners for Success Grant provided funding to each institution to increase the number and success of graduates in the STEM areas.

“With the generous support from ADP, we have been able to award several scholarships to our students in STEM or STEM education fields. We are grateful for the generosity of ADP and the partnership that has developed with our neighboring institutions, Augusta Technical College and Paine College,” says Dr. Samuel Sullivan, ASU’s vice president for academic affairs.

With the funding from the ADP grant, ASU awarded new STEM scholarships as well as increased staffing and hours of operation of student labs. Augusta Technical College established scholarships in the Information Technology and industry certification fields as well as professional development opportunities for IT faculty. Paine College established ADP Scholarships in STEM areas and greatly expanded academic support programs in STEM disciplines.

“We are truly proud of the meaningful partnership between ADP, ASU, Augusta Tech and Paine College. It was a great day to remember as we recognized and celebrated the successes of our students and their work as ADP scholars,” says Helen Hendee, ASU’s vice president for development and alumni relations.

The first ADP Scholars from Augusta State include Stephanie Agyemang, Brittany Cipollone, Riad Elmor, Skylar Rebekah Hendricks, Rebeccah Houston, Philip Javernick, Kara Kreutzer, Rebecca Sawyer, Karis Smith, Kenneth Stephenson, and Scarlett Timmons.
