Construction Update
Construction, renovations, and campus moves continue to be the norm as work proceeds on Studio B and Galloway Hall. The Purchasing staff will be moving into Studio B (in the Quad) around April 13, after telephone lines and furniture moves. Continuing Education moved March 31 into permanent facilities in the Physical Plant. They will be conducting business from their suite there; although once work is completed at Galloway Hall, classes will resume in the building. Kids University, a successful summer program, will be held in Washington Hall.

ROTC has temporarily vacated Galloway Hall and are now residing in Bellevue Annex, formerly the Morris Studio. They will return to their former space in the building when construction is completed. Expected to get underway the first week in April, the renovations are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. At that time, the Office of Testing and Disability Services will move to the first floor of Galloway.

Bell to receive Spirit of Nursing Award
Wanda Bell, nursing, will receive a Spirit of Nursing Award in an upcoming ceremony, hosted by the 10th District Georgia Nursing Association. The award will be presented at the annual Spirit of Nursing Showcase on Friday, April 30, at the Doubletree Hotel.

Ms. Bell, who is affectionately known as Ma Bell to nursing students and staff, is the department’s retention coordinator and first assistant to the department chair. She also is an alumnus of ASU’s nursing program.

The award recipients are nominated and voted on by their nursing colleagues. Nominations for the award are based on the nurse’s collaborating with other health care colleagues, demonstrating integrity, adhering to the nursing profession’s code of ethics, developing strategies including appropriate actions to improve nursing, promoting the image of nursing and the profession both within the workplace and in the community, and exemplifying the spirit of care and commitment to nursing every day, whether delivering direct patient care or leading others.

ASU Spring Break
During the week of April 5-9, students will be observing spring break, and classes will not be held. Most campus offices will observe a Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. schedule, and be closed on Friday, with the following exceptions: Media Services and the JagCard office will be closed on Thursday and Friday; and the Reese Library will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 4, and will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The 24-hour computer labs in Allgood and University Halls will remain open during the week of spring break.
