Brian Rust, art, had two artworks accepted into the 2010 LaGrange National Biennial XXVI Exhibition, hosted by the LaGrange Art Museum and LaGrange College. At the opening reception, one of his works received a jurors merit award. The exhibition will be on display Feb. 26-April 9, 2010.
Trinanjan Datta, chemistry and physics, will present Dynamic Phase Transition in the next-nearest neighbor kinetic Ising model at the 23rd annual workshop on computer simulation studies in condensed matter physics to be held at The Center for Simulational Physics at the University of Georgia. Janice Whiting, art, served as a judge for The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art’s 31st annual Agnes Markwalter Youth Art Competition and Exhibition.
Pam Lightsey, JagCard office, and three ASU students who are attending ASU as part of the Georgia Rotary Student program, made a presentation at the Waynesboro Rotary Club.
Anthony Kellman, communications and professional writing, had a new poem, Tale of the Yard Fowls, published in New Delta Review, the literary periodical of Louisiana State University.
Faye Hargrove, MPA program, made a presentation at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum about her just-released book, Better Choices. The program was followed by a book-signing.
Marcia Faglier, human resources, was recognized by the American Rose Society with an award of merit for an article she authored, Who Drank the Beer, which appeared in its national publication. The article relates to gardening.
ASU students in the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice and Social Work made presentations at the Southeastern Undergraduate Student Symposium. Presentations were made by Jennifer Davis, Julie Hudson, Brittney Ray, and Leah Walls under the direction of William Reese; Jessica Dorn, under the direction of Dale White; Curtis Fease, Doris Newman, and Brian Williams, under the direction of Kim Davies; and Sara Shedd, under the direction of Bob Johnston.
Paul Gustafson, kinesiology and health science, presented Proton Beam Therapy: A Prostate Cancer Survivor’s Story to a local chapter of US Too, a prostate cancer support group.
Gina Thurman, student services, received the Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) Trainer Award. Ms. Thurman has trained 139 people in the TIPS program.
Jennifer Onofrio, art, has work in an exhibit titled Arabesque at the Flaten Art Meseum, Dittmann Center, St. Olaf College , which is on display from Feb. 26-April 11. The exhibit features the work of Ms. Onofrio and her mother. http://www.northfieldnews.com/news.php?viewStory=51797
