The men’s basketball game against the University of Montevallo Saturday, Feb. 13, at noon, will host about 1,000 soldiers from Ft. Gordon and about 150 of the Wounded Warriors and veterans from the base and the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Hospital. The game is also notable for another reason: it will be the first game nationally televised from Christenberry Field House. The game will appear on the CBS College Sports Station.
Homecoming will be celebrated at the women’s basketball game, beginning at 3 p.m., culminating a week of activities. Several of the week’s activities also celebrate the Military Appreciation Day. The Department of Military Science will be collecting items needed by our military men and women who are in and/or returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Those items are listed on posters throughout campus and at sites online for Troop Care packages. Also, the Eta Mu Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha will have tables at homecoming activities and at the men’s game so that students and guests may make Valentines for Vets, which will then be taken to the VA Hospital.
