Staff Profile-Carol Waggoner-Angleton

By Jeannen Hobbs, contributing writer

Ms. Carol Waggoner-Angleton, library assistant III in the Reese Library, considers her most memorable working moment to be that associated with the Pilgrim Life Insurance papers—a collection recently donated to the Center for the Study of Georgia History, which is housed in the Reese Library. Having the privilege to handle such delicate documents is a reminder of her undergraduate studies as a history major at St. Mary’s College in Maryland. She is happy to be able to dust the major off and put it to work, she says.

Prior to settling down in the Augusta area, she traveled all over the world with her husband while he was in the Air Force. Her favorite place to live was Guam. She states that it was like living in a small, friendly community that just happened to be on a tropical island.

She and her husband Owen, who also works in the Reese Library, have three children: two girls and one boy. Their youngest child is a senior in high school. Ms. Waggoner-Angleton doesn’t expect empty nest syndrome to set in after her child’s graduation, because as she states, “our house has a revolving door when it comes to the children.”

Her family and work are important, but she says she also enjoys reading, going to the movies, and hiking. Her latest hiking excursion took her to Amicaola Falls State Park. Although she does not do extreme hiking, she says she would like to try some harder terrain.
