Walt Alexanderson, director of human resources, has been selected as one of seven in the University System of Georgia to receive the Governor’s Commendation for Excellence in Customer Service for this quarter.
“I am honored to be receiving the governor’s commendation for excellence in customer service. The credit for this award belongs to the Augusta State University faculty and staff who have enthusiastically embraced our customer service efforts,” says Mr. Alexanderson, who was previously named as a finalist for the Champion of the Year award.
In 2007, he was named as ASU’s Customer Service Champion. As such, he has developed an ASU version of the Lean Six Sigma program and been instrumental in the development of a Career Center Student Employment improvement project. Mr. Alexanderson has also worked extensively with ADP’s At Your Service program.
“The Customer Service Ambassadors, the Jaguar Blue Belt holders, the Financial Aid team, the Library Team, the Career Center / Student Employment Team and innumerable individuals have all been engaged in our customer service endeavors. All our combined efforts have resulted in our receiving this award as well as third place designation as Institution of the Year,” he says.
This is a significant honor which speaks highly of ASU and its customer service accomplishments, he says. On Thursday, Jan. 21, Mr. Alexanderson, along with representatives from six other institutions, will be honored at a ceremony in Atlanta.
