With the help of John Coleman, receiving inventory control clerk in Central Services, packages destined to offices in Augusta State are received and delivered promptly without a hitch. Mr. Coleman is responsible for incoming and outgoing deliveries on campus, and he must be available when FedEx or UPS shipments arrive. With assistance from other members of the shipment team, mail and packages must be coordinated and distributed throughout the Walton Way and Wrightsboro Road campuses. Mr. Coleman also assists in campus moves.
He likes the interaction he has with the various offices. According to him, ASU is a great place to be. “The atmosphere, the people…the people are very friendly. If there’s a problem, we all help each other. The campus is just a relaxed and nice place to be,” he says.
When Mr. Coleman isn’t working, you can find him relaxing at home with his wife or fishing. “I like to fish, fish, fish, and fish,” says Mr. Coleman. He also enjoys watching old movies, especially westerns. “Just no musicals,” he adds.
A Lake Charles, La., native, Mr. Coleman and his wife came to Augusta four years ago because of a transfer with her job, but he says he didn’t mind the move. “Before I retired from the Air Force, she always had to follow me around…now it’s my turn,” says Mr. Coleman.
Mr. Coleman has a good philosophy that guides his work and life: “If you treat people fairly, then you will be treated fairly back,” he says.
