Jurgen Brauer, Hull College, made two presentations during November in Bogota, Colombia: Macroeconomics, Conflict, and Violence, the keynote speech at VII Fora de Estudiantes de Economía, Finanzas y Comercio Internacional. Universidad del Rosario. He also presented a seminar titled Replication, Explanation, and Prediction at Pontifícia Universidad Javeriana. He also presented Can We Measure Peace? Does it Help in Achieving It? at the Third OECD World Forum on Statistics, Knowledge, and Policy in Busan, South Korea.
Clint Bryant, athletics, was featured in a two page article of the NCAA’s Champion magazine.
Kristin Casaletto, art, had artwork featured in the national juried show Delta National Small Prints Exhibition at the Bradbury Gallery in Jonesboro, Ark. She also has other art on display in the Center for Arts and Culture in Bozeman, Mont.
Thomas Crute, chemistry and physics, finished 41st out of 750 competitors in the Beach2Battleship Full and ½ Iron Man Triathlon in November.
Rob Foster, music, was featured in an article appearing in the December issue of Augusta Magazine.
Pam Lightsey, JagCard office, participated in a recent ceremony in which the Shepherd Blood Center donated a vehicle to Rotary International for their Medical Equipment Transport Service project, which provides medical transportation and supplies to a third world country.
In October, Yadira Payne, Reese Library, made several presentations at the Council of Media Organizations Conference titled Women’s Studies Resources from Government Documents, Writing for Publication, and Promoting the Usage of Government Information.
Saundra Reinke, political science, was elected secretary for the Georgia Political Science Association at its November meeting. Dr. Reinke presented research done with ASU student Gretchen Keneson on volunteer motivation. Ms. Keneson also presented research evaluating Lincoln County’s need for an emergency alert system.

Three faculty members in educational leadership, counseling, and special education, made recent presentations. Paulette Schenck gave two presentations: Impacts on School Counseling: Challenges and Opportunities at the annual S.C. School Counselor Association conference in Columbia and the Georgia School Counselor Association conference in Atlanta. Alice Pollingue presented Special Educators and Educational Leaders Learn to Collaborate at the Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children in Charlotte. Mary Jane Anderson-Wiley gave a presentation at Augusta Christian Schools on the myths and facts about teen suicide, symptoms of depression, and what to do if they suspect someone may be depressed or suicidal.
A book co-authored by Hubert van Tuyll, history, anthropology, and philosophy, and Jurgen Brauer, Hull College, titled Castles, Battles, and Bombs, will be translated into the Korean language. The book is scheduled to be released in its new format within the next two years.
Ralph Walker, research center, made a presentation titled Politics: sense and nonsense to the Rotary International.
William R. Wells II, Reese Library (retired) had an article titled Patrolling the Coastline on Wheels, published in Prologue, the official journal of the National Archives.
