ASU’s annual Harvest Benefit Ball
Augusta State will host its 17th Annual Harvest Benefit Ball on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p
.m. at the Julian Smith Casino. Area high school scholars will be recognized by several educational organizations. The program also includes a dinner, a live band, an Argentine Tango exhibition, and a silent auction. Admission is $20. This event is sponsored by Augusta State’s Literacy Center. Ceramic Art exhibition
One of the nation’s most sought-after ceramicist John Goodheart will present his art in an exhibition titled Vessel Grammar beginning Thursday, Nov. 12, in the New Space Gallery in Washington Hall. The artist will make a presentation during the opening reception at 5p.m. in the gallery. All events are free. Faculty Development Series
The Academy for Learning will present two forums, the first will cover on On-line Course Development and Delivery on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2:30 p.m. in 170 University Hall. The second forum Research in the Classroom: Integrating Teaching and Student Research, will be held on Nov. 19, at 2:30 p.m. in W1002 Science Hall. Great American Smokeout
In an effort to promote a smoke-free lifestyle, ASU will hold its annu
al Great American Smokeout on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 11a.m. in the JSAC Breezeway. Those who sign a pledge card and turn in their cigarettes will receive a cold turkey sandwich. For more information, call the Office of Student Activities at 706-737-1610.
Music highlights
The Department of Music will present several concerts during the month of November. The ASU Orchestra will be in concert on Tuesday, Nov. 17; the ASU Jazz Ensemble will perform on Thursday, Nov. 19; and the ASU Choir, Chamber Singers, and Glee Club will be in concert on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Each event will be held in the Maxwell Theatre and will begin at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $5 and is free with a valid JagCard. For more information, call the music department at 706-737-1453.
Campus closed for Thanksgiving
