Throughout the past five and a half years, Danelly Williams has seen many different sides to Augusta State University.
She has been a student, graduate, and a valued staff member at ASU. She graduated in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish; however, prior to her graduation she became a full-time staff member in the Office of Public Safety.
“My job is very interesting. I get to deal with many different types of people, with many different personalities, and I enjoy being around my co-workers,” says Ms. Williams.
Ms. Williams is a lover of inspirational quotes. Whether she finds them in books, online, or as a line in a movie, she is constantly writing down motivational words of wisdom. This may be why she has such an optimistic and positive look on life. However, most of her inspiration comes from her hero.
“I admire my aunt, Dallas McCrary. I think she is an exceptionally strong person. She was diagnosed with lupus disease about 19 years ago, and although it is getting worse every day, she still finds a way to instill positivity and motivation into my life,” Ms. Williams says.
“The quote I live by says, ‘A man learns nothing from winning.” She adds, “To me this means sometimes you have ups and sometimes you have downs and things don’t go the way you want them to go, but you will always learn from it.”
As a native of Panama, she has had to adjust to American life. Augusta State has helped her adjust to those changes, and she says she is proud to work at ASU and enjoys her life here in Augusta with her four sisters and three brothers. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, learning different types of dances, and playing with her dog, Bear.
