Two ASU professors have been named trustees of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art. Professor Janice Whiting will be serving as a member of the Board, and adjunct professor Rosanne Stutts will serve as the board’s secretary.
Professor Whiting has been a professor at ASU since 1981. She has been featured in exhibitions at the Mary Pauline Gallery in Augusta, and her paintings have been presented in two and three-person exhibitions in many venues, Vanderbilt University, the University of Dayton, and the Meteor Gallery in Columbia, S.C. Ms. Whiting has also contributed in the exhibition Elvis + Marilyn: 2 x Immortal, which journeyed to the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Houston Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. She is also a Fellow of the Society for the Arts, Religion and Contemporary Culture.
Professor Whiting holds a master of fine arts degree from Indiana State University and a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Georgia.
Ms. Stutts holds a bachelor’s degree in art education from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree in art education from the University of South Carolina, and an educational specialist degree in art education from the University of Georgia. She teaches photography as an adjunct faculty member.
The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art serves as a showcase for over 20 exhibitions each year, hosting at least 6 major exhibits of contemporary art for local, regional, and international artists.
