Augusta State’s 16th annual A Day campaign kicks off at fall convocation on Aug. 11, with campus co-chairs Drs. Hubert and Debra van Tuyll introducing the theme, Taking Care of Our Own, which speaks volumes of the fundraising effort that the university will undergo this year.
At noon, faculty and staff will be given the opportunity to turn in their donation cards and participate in a catered lunch at the “I Gave to A Day the First Day” event in the Grove.
“A Day is an exciting time for ASU and the community. Faculty and staff dedication to our institution is amazing and a true testament for the community,” says Wes Zamzow, director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.
The campus campaign will again be led by faculty members Drs. Hubert and Debbie van Tuyll, professors in the Departments of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy and Communications and Professional Writing, respectively. Drs. van Tuyll will assist the university in reaching its campus goal of $135,000 by motivating faculty, staff, and students. In spite of the economic downturn, ASU exceeded last year’s goal of $135,000 by $22,000.
“We understand that it may be difficult even to hit that $135,000 goal this year—but we believe that no one believes more in the mission of Augusta State than the faculty and staff who work here and who witness every day the transformative value of education,” says Drs. van Tuyll.
The community campaign, led by Mr. John Bell ‘69, attorney with the Law Office of Bell and Brigham, will begin when the campus campaign concludes, at the President’s Club Luncheon on Sept. 15, with the overall A Day campaign goal set at $535,000.
Donations to the campaign can be made on a restricted or unrestricted basis. Unrestricted funds are used where the need is the greatest, and it funds projects such as faculty and student development programs; equipment, and technology; employee events; scholarships; and more. Restricted funds are used to fund specific projects or activities specified by the donor.
