Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week begins April 27
In an annual week to show appreciation to faculty and staff, Augusta State will host a number of recognition and fun events from Monday, April 27, through Friday, May 1. A Let Us Serve You event will have senior administrators serving snacks on Monday, April 27, from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Grove. An invitation-only Recognition Breakfast will be held on Tuesday morning to honor employees for service anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, etc., years of service. Later that afternoon, beginning around 4:45 p.m., Bingo will be held in the JSAC Coffeehouse, and caller Cowboy Mike Searles will make sure players have a good time and win some prizes. You do not have to preregister for this event; just show up. Later, faculty and staff will be able to test their knowledge during a trivia contest, being held at 4:30 p.m. in the JSAC Coffeehouse. Form your own team or be matched up with others. This fun event questions knowledge on a wide variety of subjects. Prizes will be awarded. Sign up with Jason Gribek at jgribek@aug.edu or 706-667-4950.
On Wednesday, departments throughout campus will host open houses. This is an opportunity to visit with faculty and staff who you may not see regularly and to sample goodies
On Thursday, the annual Recognition Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in the Maxwell Theatre to recognize those who are observing service anniversaries (in five-year increments) and those who are retiring. New to the event this year will be the presentation of the university’s highest faculty awards: the Louis K. Bell Research Award, the Richard S. Wallace Distinguished Service Award, and the Outstanding Teaching Award. It will be followed by a picnic lunch for university faculty and staff outside in the Grove.
Culminating the week will be Fun Friday, where faculty, staff, and some talented students will entertain the crowd with their amazing talents.
Throughout the week, prizes will be awarded through drawings, and food specials will be observed in the Food Court. For more information, call 706-737-1770.
