Seventeen universities will be competing in the 31st annual Administaff/Augusta State Invitational April 4 and 5 at the university’s Forest Hills Golf Course. The tournament gets underway Saturday morning with 36 holes of play, followed by Sunday’s third and final round.
Among the teams are ASU, Central Florida, Charlotte 49ers, Chattanooga Mocs, Coastal Carolina Duke Blue Devils, Georgia Southern Eagles, Georgia State Panthers, Houston Cougars, Ken State, Lamar Cardinals, Minnesota Golden Gophers, N. C. Tar Heels, Tennessee Volunteers, USCA Pacers, Virginia Commonwealth Rams, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
Augusta State comes into the tournament after taking first place in Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club just outside of Charleston. The team’s victory, against a field that included nine teams ranked among the top 50 in the nation, was the first win for the Jaguar men’s Division I golf program since claiming the 2005 NCAA Central Regional title in South Bend, Ind.
ASU’s Janne Kaske fired the lowest round of his collegiate career, a six-under 65, and captured his first collegiate individual title with a two-stroke win. His three-round total of 199 (-14) matched the record for the lowest 54-hole total in school history, equaling Oliver Wilson’s standard that he established during the 2003 Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.
Former Jaguar golfers Oliver Wilson and Vaughn Taylor will be among the players competing in the 2009 Masters Tournament.
