Dr. J. Quentin Kuyper, director of Augusta State University’s Music Conservatory Program, and Dr. Linda Banister, professor in ASU’s Department of Music, have been named co-artistic directors of the Harry Jacobs Chamber Society. This society was formed in 1990 and was named in honor of the late Mr. Harry Jacobs, former director of the Augusta Symphony.
Before coming to Augusta, Dr. Kuyper taught at several colleges and high schools in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. He also played a role in the administration of the Department of Music at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Dr. Kuyper received his bachelor’s degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa. He obtained a master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Banister, a native of North Dakota, taught studio voice at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota, for more than a decade before coming to Augusta State in 1989. She holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Missouri in Columbia and earned a Doctor of Music degree in voice performance from The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
