“It is very hard to surprise me, and I must say I was totally shocked,” says Mr. Phillip Pridgen, resident engineer inspector in Augusta State’s Physical Plant, after learning of his selection for the Staff Excellence Award for Fall ’08.
ASU’s Staff Advisory Council presented Mr. Pridgen the award after he was nominated by several co-workers in the Physical Plant for his hard work and dedication to his job. Many of Mr. Pridgen’s co-workers say it is his personality and work ethic that captures people’s attention.
This father of three has served in the Physical Plant for over 28 years, starting out as a carpenter foreman, then being promoted to his current position. As the resident engineer inspector, he is responsible for filing all campus construction jobs and making sure they coincide with all specifications and plans.
“It is the people that make working here an enjoyable experience,” says Mr. Pridgen. “They are not only my co-workers, but they are my friends. I just want to thank and show my appreciation to everyone who nominated me for this award.”
