Augusta State’s Offices of Admissions and Development and Alumni Relations have teamed up to launch a new recruitment initiative titled Success Through Alumni Recruiting Students or STARS. According to Mr. Scott Argo, admissions recruiter and president of ASU’s Alumni Association, STARS is a new program that gives alumni an opportunity to actively participate in the recruitment process of prospective students to their alma mater.
“One of the best ways to attract prospective students is with the involvement and enthusiasm of our alumni,” says Mr. Argo. “Our goal this year is to expand the university’s presence in Atlanta and across Georgia. So, we are using our alums who are from those areas to promote the excellent education standards we have here at ASU.”
Some of the ways in which STARS volunteers will assist the Office of Admissions is by hosting receptions for prospective students at their homes, attending receptions and college fairs in their area, and e-mailing or calling prospective and accepted applicants.
“It’s a great way to reconnect with alumni of Augusta College and ASU who are now sending their sons or daughters to their alma mater,” says Wes Zamzow, director of Alumni Relations. “Alumni can sell our institution better than anyone. They have the stories or memories of their time here, and their children can now make memories of their own.”
