Almost 90 outstanding students will be recognized in this year’s annual Honors Convocation, which will be held on Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre. Departmental awards, publications awards, Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities, and others will be presented. Among the award recipients will be Christopher Goss, a music major, the Academic Recognition Day Scholar, which is a student of high academic achievement selected to represent Augusta State in the University System of Georgia’s program where honorees are recognized by the state legislature. Also, Elizabeth Cullum, an accounting major, will be recognized as the 2009 Co-op Student of the Year.

Several changes were made to this year’s program in order to provide ample time to recognize student achievement. Inductees into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi are being recognized in a program on March 20 in the Jaguar Student Activities Center Ballroom. Faculty honors, include the Outstanding Teaching Award , the Richard S. Wallace Distinguished Service Award, and the Louis K. Bell Research Award, will be presented during May at the annual Faculty and Staff Retirement and Recognition ceremony.
