Jaguars No. 4 for second week in NABC rankings
Augusta State remains the fourth-ranked men’s team in the nation in the second National Association of Basketball Coaches poll of the regular season. Findlay and USC Aiken held on to the top two positions, while Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 3 in front of the Jaguars. The next home game for the Jaguars will be Monday, Jan. 5, against USC-Aiken. The men play at 7:30 p.m., women, at 5:30 p.m. The teams also play at Christenberry Field House on Jan. 7 against UNC Pembroke and on Jan. 10 against Armstrong Atlantic State University.

ASU signs local standout
Augusta State head softball coach Melissa Mullins announced the signing of local standout Laura Brown to a national letter-of-intent. The first early signee for the Jaguars, Ms. Brown is a pitcher and utility player for nearby Evans High School. Ms. Brown has played three seasons for the Knights’ softball program and is a two-time winner of Evans High’s Best Defensive Player award. She has been named to the North-South All-Star team and was a Class AAAA second-team, All-State selection.

ASU Volleyball honored by PBC
The ASU volleyball team has been named the Peach Belt Conference Team Sportsmanship Award winner. An awards program has begun to honor one team from each of the league’s 12 championship sports; it will also recognize one institution with an Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.  The Augusta State women’s cross country team also won the Team Sportsmanship award earlier this fall.
