Staff Profile – Victoria Worsham

By Tiara Jackson, contributing writer

Victoria Worsham came to Augusta in 2000 to escape the cold, rainy weather of Seattle, Wash. However, as an added bonus, she found a warm place to work as well as live.

“I know everyone here says it, but Augusta State really is a great place to work. Everyone here is like family. I’ve enjoyed working in different areas of higher education,” says Ms. Worsham.

Ms. Worsham, who has been at ASU for the past five years, has worked in the Business Office and in the Office of Student Activities before taking her current position in the ASU Bookstore.

An outdoor enthusiast, hunting has become a new interest of Ms. Worsham, and she recently harvested a 5-point deer. She and her family are outside as much as possible, fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting. While outside enjoying nature, she indulges in one of her other hobbies, photography. She enjoys taking pictures of waterfalls; however, most of her photographs are of the family on their outdoor explorations, she says.

“I’d much rather be outside than inside. I enjoy nature, because it is so peaceful and it keeps me grounded,” says Ms. Worsham.

Another thing that keeps her grounded is her family, and she is proud of their rich heritage, she says. As a descendant of William Roy Bradford, who came over on the Mayflower, she views the United States as a very special place. When her family gathers at Thanksgiving, it is a time to reflect upon their family’s heritage and to read diaries from past eras.

“Family is very important. If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be to England; I would love to see the ancestral home of my family,” she says.

When not enjoying nature or studying for her ASU geography class, Ms. Worsham enjoys reading romance and suspense books; watching game shows and Tristan and Isolde, her favorite movie; and listening to her favorite singer, Tim McGraw. She says she also enjoys playing with her cat, Zipper. But, mostly, Ms. Worsham says she enjoys being a mom and spending time with her family. “Family is the most important thing there is,” she says.
