Augusta, Ga. – Jeffrey Heck, associate professor of library science, has been named the new associate director of the Reese Library at Augusta State University, effective Aug. 1.
“We all agree that Jeff will continue to excel in working collaboratively within our academic community and has the requisite depth of knowledge to be an exceptional associate library director,” says Camilla Reid, director of Reese Library.
Since 1995, Heck has been the automation librarian. He currently serves as the faculty secretary, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, and was elected to the Faculty Policies Committee for 2010-2012.
Heck has served as a chair and member of a variety of committees within the university and in the state. Through his statewide involvement, he has helped lead Reese Library through exponential technological enhancements to the GIL online catalog and GALILEO information system.
He has written several articles and made numerous presentations. Heck was recently named associate editor of the Georgia Library Quarterly and has served as both president and secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Uptown Augusta.
Heck received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
