Augusta, Ga. – Warren County middle and high school students will get their first taste of college as part of a Summer Bridge Program hosted by the Department of Teacher Education at Augusta State University.
The 36 students will experience life as college students this week, June 14-18. Students will conduct DNA experiments, map out their future, and visit ASU’s campus housing facility, University Village. Read the full story

Augusta, Ga. – An exhibition of Log Cabin quilts will be on display on the second floor of Augusta State University’s Reese Library through August 31. The display features six quilts by artist Glenda King that are of Log Cabin construction, an age-old quilting technique dating back to ancient Egypt that was made popular in the 1800s. Augusta, Ga. – The New Space Gallery in Augusta State University’s Washington Hall has been renamed to honor a longtime friend and supporter of the university, Mary S. Byrd.
A major gift from Mrs. Byrd was announced in May. “This generous support not only recognizes the talent and reputation of ASU faculty artists but will bring a new level of prestige and recognition to its exhibits,” says Alan MacTaggart, chair of ASU’s Department of Art. “We are thrilled that her gift establishes a new scholarship and that our most promising students will now be able to study abroad.” Read the full story
