Augusta, Ga. – Outstanding African-American high school scholars representing more than 20 high schools throughout the CSRA will be recognized by Augusta State University at the annual African-American Scholar Recognition Program on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. in the Jaguar Student Activities Center Ballroom.
The guest speaker for this year’s event will be Andre Goodman, ‘09 ASU alumnus. Mr. Goodman was one of the first African-American Male Initiative students to attend the Summer Bridge program sponsored by the Office of Student Development. In 2008, he was elected ASU’s Student Government Association president. He has served as president of the Talented Tenth and a member of Black Student Union. Mr. Goodman is currently working as an admissions counselor at the University of South Carolina.
The annual African-American Scholar Recognition program culminates the observance of Black History Month at the university. The following high school students will be recognized for their academic achievement:
