Healthy eating for the holiday season

Augusta, Ga. – The holiday season is here, and with it comes meals filled with your favorite comfort foods. Although the cookies, cakes, hams, and other seasonal dishes can be filling, the results can leave you looking like Santa.

Karen Wish, chair of Augusta State University’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, says you can still enjoy your holiday meals, but you must eat responsibly.

Some of Dr. Wish’s suggestions include making a goal to maintain your weight, eating in moderation, adding healthy ingredients to your recipes, and going for a walk after eating instead of taking a nap.

For more information on this topic or to contact Dr. Wish for an interview, call Danielle Harris, media relations specialist, in ASU’s Office of Public Relations and Publications, at 706-737-1876.
