Augusta, Ga. – The Department of Kinesiology and Health Science at Augusta State University will explore pain management in a presentation by Kathy Mulherin, director of the Egoscue Method Clinic in Atlanta, on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in the JSAC Coffeehouse.
The Egoscue Method, according to its website, is a postural therapy program that involves a series of stretches and gentle exercises designed to treat musculoskeletal pain without drugs, surgery, or manipulation, enabling its clients to live pain free.
The method has been used by many people to avoid surgery that has been recommended by their physician, says R. Paul Gustafson, associate professor in ASU’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Science. Read the full story

Augusta, Ga. – The annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Augusta State University will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 p.m. on the History Walk.
Caroling by the ASU Choir begins at 6 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be available for faculty, staff, students, and community members prior to Santa’s scheduled visit to the boys and girls. Atlanta — November 17, 2009 — As state tax collections continue to decline, the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents today approved plans to adjust the System’s budget from a six percent reduction ($135 million) to an eight percent reduction level, ($176 million) for the current fiscal year (FY2010). The Board’s actions call for new reductions to the System’s 35 public colleges and universities as well as implementing an additional mandatory student fee. Read the full story

Augusta, Ga. – Fusing the genre’s of rock, pop, and reggae, the international renowned Welsh quartet Skindred will perform during ASU Unplugged on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. in the Jaguar Student Activities Center Breezeway.
The Billboard charts ranked Skindred’s album, Babylon, as being the number one reggae album in the country, and their hit song Nobody also charted as 23 on the alternative song list.
