Campus Closed


In celebration of Independence Day, the Augusta State University campus  will be closed on Friday, July 3.  The campus will reopen on Monday, July 6.

ASU students make change in the community


Augusta, Ga. – Giving of oneself to make the community a better place is what Dr. Shirley Jezowski, director of social work in Augusta State University’s Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work, hopes to instill in her students as they perform volunteer services at area community centers this month. Jaguars’ Wilkerson Drafted By Red Sox


Augusta State junior outfielder Shannon Wilkerson was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the eighth round of Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft Wednesday afternoon.

The 258th pick overall, Wilkerson is the highest draft pick in the 45-year history of the Jaguar baseball program. Wilkerson is also ASU’s first draft pick since 2002, when lefthander Mitch Douglas was taken in the 12th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. His selection also marks the highest a PBC player has been drafted since the Florida Marlins took GCSU’s Matt Goyen in the third round in 2005. Read the full story

ASU’s Literacy Center to host Family Fun Fair


Augusta, Ga. – An increase in gas prices has some parents opting for summer family outings that are closer to home. Next week, the Literacy Center at Augusta State University will offer both a fun yet educational event at its annual Family Fun Fair on Tuesday, June 9, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in ASU’s Maxwell Theatre.
