Augusta, Ga. – In To Be: Ser or Estar? That is the question, Dr. Pedro Hoyos-Salcedo, associate professor in Augusta State University’s Department of English and Foreign Languages, presents his technique, the Hoyos Method, to help learn Spanish.
Dr. Hoyos-Salcedo’s method is considered to be an interactive, systematic, and logical approach to learning that has been tested in the learning-teaching process in elementary, middle, and high schools as well as in universities.
For 13 years, Dr. Hoyos-Salcedo has been teaching basic and intermediate Spanish, linguistics, literature, and Medical Spanish at Augusta State. He and his niece Julia F. Hoyos have produced a series of teaching CD’s. One of these series, Buenos Dias! Good Morning is currently being used in several school districts in Virginia and South Carolina.
Dr. Hoyos-Salcedo received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Santiago, a master’s degree in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts, and a doctoral degree in Spanish from the University of Nebraska.
