ASU ROTC participates in skill tests

Augusta, GA. – This summer, several Reserve Officer Training Cadets from Augusta State University will head to two United States Army forts to undergo tests of their intelligence, leadership ability, ingenuity, and stamina.

Fourteen junior cadets and two instructors will be participating in the Fort Lewis, Wash., Operation Warrior Forge event, an annual 33-day Leader Development and Assessment Course.

Heading to Fort Knox, Ky., will be eight freshmen and sophomore cadets along with two instructors to participate in a Leadership Training Course. This event involves four weeks and four phases of intense training in both the classroom and field.

These courses are part of the required training for Army ROTC cadets and National Guard officer candidates.

The Augusta State instructors that will be accompanying the students are Major Karen Roe,  department chair and professor; Major Terrance Sommers, professor and training officer; Sergeant First Class Tony Davis, training instructor; and Master Sergeant John Wallace, senior military instructor.
