Going one-on-one with science at the 2009 Science Olympiad National Tournament

Augusta, Ga. – Get a close look at exploding volcanoes, raw eggs being launched into the air without breaking, and the building of electric vehicles during the 2009 Science Olympiad National Tournament being hosted by Augusta State University.  The tournament began today, May 14, and it will conclude on Saturday, May 16.

Participants will be registering throughout the day on Friday, May 15, in ASU’s Jaguar Student Activities Center.  Demonstrations will be given during the day and are open to the public. Georgia Southern University will hold two Raptor Center presentations at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the D. Douglas Barnard, Jr., Amphitheatre; the Medical College of Georgia will conduct two Telemedicine presentations starting at noon and 1p.m. in 170 University Hall; and the National Science Center’s Mobile Discovery Center will be on site holding sessions every hour beginning at 9 a.m.
