Augusta, Ga. – Augusta State University’s Alumni Association will recognize outstanding alumni and friends at the annual meeting and awards celebration on Friday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m., at St. Paul’s Church located at 605 Reynold’s Street in downtown Augusta. Each year, the alumni association honors individuals and organizations that actively support ASU, the alumni association, and the community.
This year’s alumni award recipients include Mr. Wesley R. Zamzow, director of Alumni Relations, who will receive the Young Alumnus Award; Head Basketball Coach Darren T. “Dip” Metress and his wife, Heather B. Metress, the Golden Key Award; Mr. Michael N. “Cowboy Mike” Searles, assistant professor of history, the Town and Gown Award; Mr. Boone A. Knox and Mrs. George-Ann W. Knox, the Distinguished Service Award; and Mrs. Jane W. Howington, the Distinguished Alumna Award.
The association will also present the slate of the 2009-2010 board of directors and new officers. The slate of officers includes Scott R. Argo, ’04, president; Rhonda L. Oellerich, ’00, immediate past president; Andrea S. Turley, ’85, secretary and treasurer; Dwight D. Johnson, ’96 and ’05, vice president for awards; Sherry A. Moore, ’94, vice president for university relations; Adam S. Williams ‘03, vice president for development; Sue Ellen Harrison, ’77 and ’83, vice president for membership; and Jessica M. Zwanziger, ’05, vice president for social. New board members include Adam Cato, ’08; Mae Carpenter, ’67, and Amber Zimmerman, ’98.
