Only after hearing the Shuttle Bus issue recently have I decided to set some time aside to read up on the concerns and comments about this matter. Like most of the ASU student body, I consider my time precious and constantly fleeting. I believe it is obvious this issue needs to be reexamined. I also can only imagine that ignorance would have promoted one of the remarkers above to state:

“Just because people you know didn’t know anything doesn’t mean that ASU did not make a concerted effort to inform people. Again, I say that for once ASU tried to inform people. For once, in this one situation, it is truely not ASU’s fault that people ignored every email and flyer about this.”

Whether response from the student body was made or not, that, in my humble opinion, does not give the SGA the right to ASSUME that their silence can be interpretted into a YES vote. I may have not been aware of the issue when it was up for debate, but I am now. I have many feelings about the way the school could better utilize funding opportunities, and I am happy to become active in whatever manner is necessary to help in this matter. Please send me or comment on how I may reach the appropriate position holder that would like to listen, discuss, and resolve these isssues. I am sure quite a few of us would like to get our heads together on this to find a reasonable and fair solution.

I was all fired up to give the ‘pro-shuttle bus’ people a piece of my mind until I read what Katie said, I agree 100% with her. We have too many fees to pay as it is, including paying for the University Village people to get to and from school. It would be rediculous to make us pay another fee to benefit a small percentage of students (yes 58.8% of 733 of 6401 is a small percentage). We are adults, find your own transportation to school without being a burden to the rest of us – unless the school wants to give the students who ride the bus a fee the pay for our gas. Thank God I’m graduating this year, this University has become a joke. dhammon6 and james – preach it. B-Buster – get a life. This forum was put here to get our opinions. Go play World of Warcraft or someting.

The shuttle bus will only be benefitting a small number of ASU students, and it would basically be for University Villiage students who don’t have their own cars. There is already public transportation that takes these students to campus. I don’t see people filling my gas tank to drive to school, so I don’t see why I should be paying for others to get there. This isn’t middle school, and we don’t need to hold people’s hands to get them where they want to go. I don’t feel I should have to pay for someone else’s bus ride. It’s not something that will benefit everyone at ASU, or even a large number of people for that matter. As someone else on here commented, I have to spend money on a parking pass to be able to park in the parking lots, so why should I be paying someone else’s bus fee? Only the people who will actually be using the bus should be charged, same as the parking passes.

Bottom line, transportation should be every individual’s responsibility. This isn’t middle school, and we don’t need to hold people’s hands to get them to their classes. Nobody’s paying to fill up my gas tank to get to and from school. I don’t feel like it’s fair for myself or other ASU students who aren’t going to be using this service to pay the way for others. This is college, we’re all responsible for ourselves.

Honestly bbuster, i feel like you’re just trying to get everyone to shut up and be quiet with the shuttle system debate. Although you feel that there is no debate needed, why don’t you just let us air our thoughts without wondering if you’re going to have a “smart” response to. If you really are against it, like the a lot of us, then just leave it alone. Obviously you feel that there is nothing that a handful of angry students can do, which you have responded to our complaints by saying “My argument is that complaining to ASU is pointless. You can’t change this on-campus. They don’t even respond to you right? That’s because the decision making process has already left the campus. It’s at the state level. The Board of Regents approved the fee. So where do you need to protest??” We’re not writing on here hoping that YOU will respond. This was a blog put up stating “Dean of Students Seeks Student Input” not “Bbuster is seeking Students Input”. Just give it up. We’re not looking for your opinion. This is a forum to be heard not to be shut downt by Bbuster.

My argument is that complaining to ASU is pointless. You can’t change this on-campus. They don’t even respond to you right? That’s because the decision making process has already left the campus. It’s at the state level. The Board of Regents approved the fee. So where do you need to protest??

I don’t think anyone has suggested that students HAVE to go to SGA meetings to make their voice heard. I know I haven’t. You could easily have emailed SGA or the Administration back when the decision making process was still here.

The school directly emailed you a survey and that survey, like it or not, is being used as justification for the shuttle (People have made bigger decisions with less than the 11% response rate that this survey had).

So this b buster is saying that ASU students don’t get informed about everything ASU does yet buster still argues?
Buster what’s your arguement?
A lot of people leave campus by friday SGA meetings. That is when they go on right?
What about peope who can’t be on campus because of work at that time?
The students need to be given better ways to voice their opinion’s.
The people who don’t want this, which is the majority, can change this still.
I don’t know who you could talk to yet but will find out. Right now only Bloodworth and Joyce Jones, but they haven’t even e-mailed me back when I sent them my questions.

To make a big/long arguement short; there are two options to choose from.
1) Do not get the shuttle.
2) If you want the shuttle just apply the fee only to the student living in the UV.
