Which Constitutional amendment gives 18-year olds the right to vote? Students will have the opportunity at several events this week at Augusta State University to exercise that right and to learn more about the Constitution. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Sept. 16, 17, and 18, ASU students will Rock the Vote in voter registration drives in the Jaguar Student Activities Center—in time to meet the October deadline for registering to vote in the November presidential elections.
On Constitution Day, Wednesday, Sept. 17, Reese Library will have displays on the U. S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, the framers of the Constitution, Famous Quotes, and the Declaration of Independence. Yadira Payne, government documents librarian, will be dress in period costume of that era and will be distributing pocket-sized Constitutins, pens, bookmarks, and information on the legislative process.
For more information, contact Yadira Payne, 706-729-2166, or Peter Flanagan, chair of the university’s Constitution Day Committee, at 706-737-1710.
