The Reese Library at Augusta State University will be extending its hours of operation during fall semester for its Special Collections unit. The new hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The new operating schedule will be in effect through Dec. 12, with the exception of the Thanksgiving weekend.
“We know that with parking at a premium during the week, being open on Saturdays will make it easier for our patrons to take advantage of our research facilities,” says John O’Shea, special collections librarian. “We hope our community users, our ASU students, and affiliates will take advantage of these additional hours.”
Special Collections maintains and preserves primary materials related to ASU, local history, the University System of Georgia, and selected genealogical sources. In partnership with the Augusta-Richmond County Historical Society, the unit maintains over 400 manuscripts, nearly 5,000 books, historical photographs, vertical files, and additional primary source materials for researchers.
For more information about Special Collections or its new hours of operation, contact Carol Waggoner-Angleton, special collections assistant at ASU’s Reese Library, at 706-667-4904 or e-mail spcoll@aug.edu.
