New department chairs in the Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences


Two departments in the Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences are entering fall semester with interim chairs: Ms. Jennifer Onofrio will serve as the acting chair for the Department of Art, and Dr. Richard Griner will serve as acting chair for the Department of Biology.

“The Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences is blessed with an exceptionally high caliber of faculty,” says Dr. Robert Parham, dean of the Pamplin College. “Both Dr. Griner and Ms. Onofrio will provide excellent leadership for their departments as well as outstanding teaching and mentoring to our students. New initiatives being proposed


Last spring, a subcommittee of the University Council was formed to develop 5-year initiatives for the university, based on the following guidelines:
• Initiatives should connect with the goals of the University System.
• Initiatives should be positive and productive, focusing on growth and development.
• Initiatives should be brief. Details come later.
• Initiatives must be measurable or assessable.

Special Collections extends hours


The Reese Library at Augusta State University will be extending its hours of operation during fall semester for its Special Collections unit. The new hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The new operating schedule will be in effect through Dec. 12, with the exception of the Thanksgiving weekend.
